Riyadh - The Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, during his speech at the Global Smart Cities Forum organized by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), announced that four Saudi cities have been classified within the smart cities index over the past year. He added that the Ministry's goal is to classify at least 10 Saudi cities among the top 50 global cities by focusing on governance, sustainability, and interacting with residents to meet their needs and achieve high levels of well-being.
Al-Hogail emphasized that the Kingdom's Vision 2030, launched by HRH the Crown Prince, is a great dream that reflects positively on the entire region. He added that the country is experiencing a renaissance today, thanks to the investment of all the capabilities and resources of the nation.
Furthermore, Al-Hogail highlighted the continued effort to develop the "Digital Twin Modeling" national application. This innovation, he said, will transform the way Saudi cities are planned and operated, enabling the simulation of the impact of urban policies, planning for emergencies and disasters, and allowing for greater collaboration between authorities and residents in the co-design of cities. He added that by 2025, this model will be fully functional.
