HORSERACING – THE Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club (REHC) yesterday held the 20th meeting of this season for the House Me Company Cup as well as Fatees Al Hajeri Cup at its racecourse in Al Raffa, Sakhir.
A number of royal family members, representatives of sponsors, and equestrian sport enthusiasts attended the races.
Al Mohamediya Racing stable had the major share of the spoils with its horses winning three of the eight cups on offer yesterday.
Ali bin Mohammed Al Hajeri presented the first-round trophy of Fatees Al Hajeri Cup to assistant trainer Ishaq Murad in the presence of members of Al Hajeri family.
House Me Company CEO Ammar Al Bosta presented the company’s trophies to the winners in the presence of company representatives and guests. He presented the third, fourth and sixth rounds’ trophies to the winning owner Shaikh Sultan AlDeen bin Mohammad bin Salman Al Khalifa as well as the second-round trophy to the winning owner Sami Abdulla Nass and the fifth-round trophy to the winning assistant trainer Mohammed Haider.
Al Bosta also presented the seventh-round trophy to Hadi Ebrahim Al Afoo and the eighth-round trophy to Henry Mosad.
Thunder Moor, owned by Maria Gill, trained by George Boughey and ridden by Gerald Mosse, won the eighth round for imported horses with handicap over 1,000m.
The seventh round for locally bred horses with handicap over 1,000m was claimed by Shgardi, owned by Al Afoo Racing, trained by Mohammed Hasan and ridden by Ebrahim Nader.
Knight of Honour, owned by Al Mohamediya Racing, trained by Ali Abdulmajeed and ridden by Neil Callan, took the sixth round over 2,800m for imported horses with handicap.
The fifth round for locally bred horses with handicap over 2,000m was won by Mowja, owned by Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim, trained by Haider Ebrahim and ridden by Abdulla Faisal.
Atlal, owned by Al Mohamediya Racing, trained by Abdulmajeed and ridden by Callan, claimed the fourth round over 1,400m for locally bred maiden horses.
The third round for imported horses with handicap over 1,600m was taken by Vegas Jack, owned by Al Mohamediya Racing, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by Callan.
California, owned by Abdulla Sami Nass, trained by Nass and ridden by Stephane Ladjadj, took the second round for class 4 and maiden locally bred horses over 1,400m.
The opening round for class 3, 4 and maiden Waho over 1,400m was won by Musannan 1881, owned by Al Khaldiya, trained by Nass and ridden by Ladjadj.
