BAHRAIN Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar congratulated the leadership on the youth handball team winning the Asian Championship in Bahrain.
Bahrain recovered from a three-goal 9-12 half-time deficit to edge Japan 25-23 in an exciting final in front of a capacity crowd at Khalifa Sports City’s hall in Isa Town.
This first-ever Asian Championship title ensured Bahrain their third consecutive berth in the forthcoming edition of the World Championship in Georgia next year.
Askar congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, on the victory.
Askar lauded the efforts of His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and BOC President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and his support to the team which boosted the players’ confidence.
The BOC general secretary affirmed the importance of Bahraini sports fans’ support to the national handball team in its bid to win the championship.
He commended the efforts of the team’s technical and administrative crew and also noted the contributions of Bahrain Handball Association, which played a major part in this victory.
Representatives Council Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Mulla extended heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad after the Bahrain youth handball team clinched the Asian Cup and qualified for the World Cup finals.
The Shura Council Chairman also congratulated His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier on the honourable achievement.
Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh also congatulated the leadership on the achievement.
