Kuwait: Twenty-eight expatriate women are facing deportation from Kuwait for flouting residence regulations.
The police apprehended them as they were working illegally at cafes in the district of Hawali, and referred them to the Residence Affairs Directorate.
The five-hour clampdown followed the decision of a tripartite committee set up by the Kuwaiti cabinet to ban woman from working at cafes.
The inspectors have also caught a number of runaway maidservants and other expatriate men who were found in breach of the laws concerning working in the private sector.
