Manama: Bahrain has a lot to offer to everyone in its fold. It offers the best nightlife in the Middle East despite being a small country and there is abundance of clubs and pubs, all located within walking distance of each other.
One such area in Bahrain is Al-Shabab Avenue, popularly known as ‘American Alley’.
The ‘American Alley’ is home to many hotels, restaurants and retail outlets including as McDonalds, Chilli's, Nando's, Asian Zyng, Dairy Queen, Hardee's, Starbucks, Abraj Grills, and Burger King, etc.
Most of those who live in the area are established foreigners or upwardly mobile young Bahrainis.
However, the American Alley looks completely different during weekends as young Americans, Saudis, Asian expatriates and other Bahrainis flood the street to relax and enjoy their weekend.
The ‘American Alley’ offers everything that one could possibly want ranking from top DJs, to live music to karaoke and pub quizzes.
Alcohol is legal here, which makes American Alley more attractive to those who are unable to drink legally in other neighboring GCC countries.
The nightlife in this alley mostly involves expatriates, so much, so that you even tend to forget that you are in a Middle Eastern country, unless when a random Arabic dance song is played.
The American Alley is also unique in a particular aspect that it is not uncommon here for men and women to intermingle.
